EVENING COURSES ~ SATURDAY CLASSES

Welcome to Northcote, New Zealand. If you have recently arrived here, or if you have been here for some time, one of our ESOL courses will be right for you.
We offer courses to help you settle in and to learn those English words & phrases that are unique to New Zealand. Meet other migrants from all around the world and make new friends while improving your English skills.

These courses are partly funded by the NZ Government for New Zealand Residents over 16 years of age. Non residents may enrol, but are required to pay a surcharge of 50% in addition to the course fee unless they hold a Work Visa and IRD number. (Please bring evidence of your status when you enrol.)

NOTE: If you have pre-purchased English tuition through Immigration New Zealand’s English for Migrants Programme run by TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) you can use this to pay for courses here. Just bring your passport and a copy of your EFM Agreement with you when you come to enrol.

Prepare for IELTS Academic & Advanced English

This course will give you an excellent overview of the IELTS Academic test and preparation in the necessary skills. Good preparation for those intending University study and hoping for very good IELTS test results to guarantee entry to university degree courses. English Pronunciation
Pronunciation is one of the hardest aspects of English to master. In this class we will look at various techniques to improve pronunciation and speech clarity. We will also introduce the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) so you can continue to refine your speech after the course has finished. (Level: Pre-Intermediate +)

It focuses on day to day communication in the workplace. Role plays will help you gain confidence and prepare you for working in N.Z. Topics include person-to-person communication, understanding cultural differences, phone calls, writing, exchanging information and writing simple reports. This class will also cover conversation on current events to give you confidence to chat with your work colleagues at morning tea and lunchtime. (Level Pre-Intermediate+)
