If you have always wanted to paint but weren't sure how to get started, then this course is for you. Based on basic colour theory and through a series of guided, creative exercises, this course will give you the knowledge, skills and the confidence to take your work further.

Beaded Jewellery
An introduction to making your very own beaded jewellery!  It’s cheaper than the shops, it never goes out of fashion and if you don’t like it, you can pull it apart and start again.  Learn how to tailor make jewellery for a special outfit, or personalised jewellery for gifts, and discover your creative flair.  A course for everyone from age 8 onwards!  (Students under 14 please enrol with a parent - have a Mother & Daughter day!)  If you enjoy this class why not try “Simple Beaded Gifts” to extend your knowledge.
NB Please enrol at least one week before the course starts. On the day, bring your lunch and at least $15 cash to the tutor for your materials.

Creative Acrylic Art
Take home a work of art to hang on your wall. Explore with acrylic paint, found objects, postcards, sand and especially your imagination. Principles of design, use of colour and the difference texture can make will be covered in a fun day with local artist, Jan Tyler. Jan's Profile
Wear old clothes & bring 1-2 Acrylic Painting boards (eg from The Warehouse or Ikes Emporium), Acrylic paint - test pots, house paint or tubes, large water containers eg icecream container, plastic trays for mixing colours, newspaper, tissue paper, rags and any special papers, shells etc you'd like to include in your painting plus $4 to the tutor for additional materials. Limited to 10 students.

Easy Painting
Learn how to use brushes, painting media, acrylic to paint popular New Zealand themes - koru, sunset, Rangitoto - all on canvas. A relaxed class suitable for beginners or those with some experience. Please bring a water jar, apron, old cloths or paper towels and soap, masking tape, pencil, rubber, ruler plus $40 to the tutor on the first day for materials.

Fused Glass Jewellery
You'll be falling over yourself to make more once you've been to this fused glass jewellery course. The good news is that not only will you be able to take home the 2 or 3 pendants you have created on the day, you can also purchase all the materials used straight away, so you can practise your new techniques, safely, easily and affordably at home. That's because in this glass fusing course we don't use a traditional kiln - we use a microwave instead - just like the one you have at home. Learn the basics and some advanced fusing techniques at the course and you can go on to create your own pendants, earrings, rings, bracelets, cufflinks, brooches and more. Sounds like fun? Korowai Kakahu - Feather Cloak
It takes many hours to achieve a full length traditional Korowai (Feather Cloak). Learn to reach that level by taking smaller and more manageable steps and using more accessable materials. It is preferable to master the art of weaving before going on to Korowai, but not impossible to achieve a beautiful Cloak, should you want to get straight into this art. Please bring $25 for materials to the tutor on the first day.

Mosaics
Let artist Anne Egan guide you through the creative steps of mosaics. On the Wednesday evening please bring pencil and paper to plan your design. Bring $10 to the tutor for glue and grout plus you will need to buy a base and tiles which our tutor can supply. Alternatively, a materials list will be given on Wednesday evening so you can purchase your ownready to complete the project of your choice at a fun filled workshop on Saturday. Raranga - Flax Weaving
Come and learn the art of weaving with NZ flax / harakeke. Learn how to draft blocks that fit, create patterns and make garments using industry sewing techniques. Simple Beaded Gifts

Create a fabulous range of simple items that can be used as gifts or for decorating your home, office, bach, car – anywhere you like.  We will be making at least 5 separate items such as wineglass charms, serviette rings, bookmarks, beaded angels and decorative pendants. Costs range from $3 to $8 so please bring at least $20 cash to tutor for materials.  Plan your presents or your Christmas early and enjoy the satisfaction of having made them yourself and saving money at the same time. A course for everyone aged 8 - 88!  A great follow-on course from Beginners Beaded Jewellery, but this is not a pre-requisite.

Create your own masterpiece to complement your home or garden. Soft stone sculpture uses a medium that is easy to work with. Still Life Painting

Working from a still-life is a great way to build confidence through direct observation. Composition, drawing and painting techniques will be covered, aimed at giving you the skills to complete a beautiful painting on canvas. Suitable for all levels of ability. Maximum 8 students.
